Hypothetical question re: cabling.
If the virgin cabling coming into my house has a splitter on it, and one end goes into my tivo, and the other end is just loose, not connected to anything and not got a "stopper cap" on it - would this affect my services at all? (Both internet and tv)
Thanks. |

Very slightly.

Re: Hypothetical question re: cabling.
It will have an impact, but whether that impact is great enough for you to notice an issue is another matter. Technically, every uncapped connection to your cab (including neighbours that have disconnected) will have an impact.

Re: Hypothetical question re: cabling.
Would it, for instance, be the cause of :
1) a couple of channels suffering from pixelation 2) A 50% reduction in internet speed and poor network connection to homeplugs. |

An easy trial would be to remove the splitter and just run the one cable and see if it makes a difference. Signal strengths would rise by about 6db. |

However, I still have some issues on my home network. But it's probably more linked to the wiring in the house and the lottery of homeplugs than anything else. |
