How do VM boxes search for programmes?

The search facility (when it works!) on the V+ seems to be able to pick up programmes beyond the populated EPG. I find this especially useful now that the V+ EPG has again been reduced by one day.

I had assumed that it simply searched the EPG, does it get it's data from somewhere else?

Does TiVo do this any differently?

Thanks.

The V+ search runs entirely on a server. TiVo search runs mostly on the TiVo, with a bit of help from a server.

Thanks, I wondered how it knew the programmes beyond what data the EPG held!

Is it the server that's causing it to not pick up programmes that exist? Should I report this intermittent problem?

A fault on the V+ search server has been fixed this week. Check it again now.
