New customer - any ways / places to get a better deal?
I'm moving out of my parents house in a couple of weeks, they're on Virgin (and will continue to be) and have been customers since about 1997 in the old NTL / Cable & Wireless days.
The flat I'm moving into is a fairly new build, and it's got Virgin and Sky points in the living room, and Virgin have already been on the phone to offer me a deal. The offer I got was: - 50mbps broadband - 12 month contract - £25 installation fee - £26.50 a month. This is essentially the same offer on uswitch, but with half price installation. I'm just curious to know if there's any way to either get this lowered, or if I can get some extra services in there for around the same price. I saw that if you use quidco, and an offer on uswitch, you can get the following: - Big Easy Bundle - 50mbps Broadband - 60+ TV Channels - 500GB Tivo box - Home phone (unlimited weekend calls) - 6 Months Free Netflix Price: £15 for 12 months, then £20 plus £15.99 line rental. Total over 18 months (contract length) = £587.82 Minus Quidco cashback of £80 = £507.82 Works out to be, on average £28.21 / month The issue is, I can't commit to 18 months, but I can commit to 12. But it seems the offers Virgin have are all 18 months only. So it made me also wonder - if you cancel at 12 months (I'm hoping I wont have to as I'd like to stay where I'm moving but cant guarantee it), what's the penalty? I'm not really fussed about TV or Phone, but if I can get anything else included for around the £25 mark it'd be awesome. Is it worth trying to play them off against other offers for ADSL, or do Virgin not negotiate new customer offers? |

Really you've answered your own question. 18 month deals are always going to be cheaper than 12 month deals because you are tied in for longer.
VM's current early disconnection fees are listed here: http://store.virginmedia.com/the-leg...tion-fees.html Of course, if you move to another serviceable address, you can transfer your services without paying disconnection fees. |
