5.1 audio from TiVo
 

I haven't posted in ages but I have a question which I can't answer from searching the forums. We have a new home cinema system which has an optical input which our old system didn't have. How can I set up our TiVo to receive 5.1 sound via this input. Optical cable is plugged in and we're receiving sound via the new system but it isn't 5.1 (front speakers only). Is this only available from some channels and certain programmes? If so, which ones are they? Is there a particular channel I can test the setup on which always uses 5.1?

Only HD channels will output in Dolby Digital and not all of them will be 5.1 for all programmes.

Thanks for the reply Stephen. I'll keep trying out the HD channels from time to time.

Try Sky One HD most of Sky's new series and new American Imports are broadcast with 5.1 audio.
