Thunderbird not receiving emails
 
I've been using TB for years for all of my email addresses - ntl, google, yahoo.
Since yesterday I've not been receiving emails with an .ntlword address
I can send but not receive.
No error messages either.
I can see them in webmail though.

Having spoken to virgin it seems there is an issue and it's not just me.

VM's DNS is screwed up. Nothing new there. Try changing you primary DNS to Google (8.8.8.8) or open DNS.

The servers are still there just not from VMs DNS.

If you are using a router then it's in the setup pages somewhere like this:

Under advanced settings, primary is set for Google, secondary for VM.

I dont think VM's DNS is screwed up. I believe the Ntlword IMAP, pop3 and SMTP are no longer active. Change these to the virginmedia equivalents and it works fine

I don't know about IMAP and smtp but the NTLworld.com POP is working fine on the two accounts I have that use it.

I stopped using the smtp when it was flakey a while ago but it still pings OK.

One of the POP accounts is linked to my VM account as primary e-mail so it has to keep working.

In the other thread, I said I can ping IMAP.ntlworld.com but it doesn't respond to email requests. It's as if the port is blocked

When I click on the "get mail" in Thunderbird on either account it goes through the normal sequence:

Connect: contacting server

Connected to Host for xxxxx@ntlworld.com

There are no messages for xxxxx@ntlworld.com

When the DNS was cocked it simply couldn't find the server.

I've just sent a test message from another account and it turned up almost immediatly in the @ntlworld account so it's definitly working.

I suspect this may be a more localised problem.

There are currently known issues with ntlworld mail using certain mail clients:

Changeing to the Virginmedia.com servers has been suggested as a temporary workaround.
