Pop up box Java SE Runtime Environment 7 Update 55 ???
 

Hi all

I keep getting a User Account Control pop up boa appearing every 30 seconds asking

Do you want to allow following programme to make changes to this computer

Java SE Runtime Environment 7 Update 55

What ever I click Yes/ No the box keeps popping up....tried to update Java but still box keeps popping up.

Any ideas on a fix as it being to do my head in :confused:

Try going to the java.com site and downloading the offline installer (it may take a little finding). Close all your browsers and install that. I find this work best. BTW I still use JRE 6 as apps we use are not certified to JRE 7 and just don't work, there are also fun issues with apps in Firefox due to increased security in the latter and badly written apps.

Big question to ask yourself though if it's a personal computer rather than a work one - do you actually need Java at all?

If you don't immediately know the answer as yes, then it could be worth uninstalling it completely and then seeing if anything breaks
