TP Link Powerline

Ive got a TP Link Power-line Adapter for extending WiFi Upstairs and also I have an Ethernet cable running from it to my PC as I use this to download.

I was on 40 Meg Broadband and getting speeds of 37-39Meg using my PC, and Wireless I was getting 16-20Meg

I decided to upgrade my package to the Pro, which meant I get speeds of 62-80Meg which is all I can get in my Area.

My Wireless Devices, I pad, PS4 etc can receive speeds of half my Broadband which is 62 Meg so I'm getting around 30Meg wireless. However my PC which is wired to the TP Link Adapter will only go up to 47-49 Meg

I am presuming that the TP Link I have which says 500Mbs is referring to Megabits not Megabytes, so I assume this is why my PC speed wont go above 49 Meg? If so, How can I get the top speed on my PC without trailing an Ethernet cable all over my house?:dozey:

Re: TP Link Powerline

This is the problem with Powerline devices (which I also use and don't get mmore than around 50 meg from them wired).

There is an acid test to perform. Put two Powerline devices adjacent each other into a double wall socket. The master goes to the router; the slave to your PC.

Then see if speed rises.

Let us know and we'll take it from there.

EDIT: For woieless, TP-Link are naughty in not saying in their data sheets/manuals what the WiFi standard is. I suspect it's 802.11b/g/n. Exactly which model Powerline is it?

i dont understand why there isnt a 1000 version. ive managed to get 38meg on wireless by changing channels but without getting 62 meg wired its pretty crap to pay the extra.
