i currently have a superhub installed in living room, it is in the corner of room and on the floor. (downstairs the wireless connection works better then upstairs) i believe its 60mb connection....
so i invested in some wireless extenders, and now upstairs i am getting full bars, however i keep getting network timeout if i am downloading items or pages do not load as fast and reguarly bring up server error e.g page could not be resolved... despite the same pages or downloads loading fast and working downstairs better... what are the settings i need? the superhub (Standard Specification Compliant EU DOCSIS 3.0 Serial Number 2HA325UF22E44 Hardware Version 2.00 Software Version V2.38.01) the wireless extenders are tp-link av500 |
Re: losing connection, still showing full bars. - superhub setting help?
I have just had a quick flick through the instruction manual and I can't see any settings you can change that would remedy your problem. It sounds like you are getting a tonne of packet loss and that may be a result of loss of data as it goes through the power lines in your house. I am assuming the "full bars" are on your laptop or wireless device you are using to connect to the adapters. The best thing you can do atm is if you are using a laptop try and ping the router and see if you are getting any packet loss on your connection to the router. To do this, open a command prompt (click on start, click run (OS depending) and type "cmd" in the search bar and it will open up a new window).
https://www.cableforum.co.uk/images/...2014/08/19.jpg You will need to know the ip address of your router. If you have got a shub in router mode it will be 192.168.0.1 and if it is modem mode, or if you have a 3rd party router, it will be 192.168.100.1. At the command prompt type "ping 192.168.100.1 -n 10 (or replace with the ip address of your router). https://www.cableforum.co.uk/images/...2014/08/20.jpg Hit enter and you'll get something which looks like this: https://www.cableforum.co.uk/images/...2014/08/21.jpg If you get any timeouts on any lines as it runs the test and it comes back at the end saying 50% loss (example) then that means you are losing packets between your laptop and the router before anything even gets out of your house. |
Re: losing connection, still showing full bars. - superhub setting help?
I don't think 'full bars' really means all that much. It just means its reviving a strong signal. It doesn't mean the data is coming through or that the data is uncorrupted.
Follow the above General's advice, and go from there. |
Re: losing connection, still showing full bars. - superhub setting help?
yeah, I assumed it was an indication of the signal strength between the client and the powerline adapter which doesn't count for anything if there is packet loss between the adapter and the router.
