Java update
Is there a way i can switch off the Java update notice?.
The reason i ask is that it keeps showing up on my PC saying theres a newer version to download, i click it and it says i have latest version. I have checked their website and i am using the latest on the site. |
Re: Java update
If you don't use Java the best thing you can do is uninstall it.
Unless you play Minecraft or are a developer, you almost certainly don't use Java. |
Re: Java update
Remember there's a difference between Java language support and Java script. The former as stated above is not generally needed and is best uninstalled unless you use services that mandate it as there are many security issues.
Java script however is used on many sites for dynamically updating pages, an example being the message/rep notification on CF pages and other services. It CAN be selectively disabled but if you have no issues it's best left on. |
Re: Java update
If you go to Java in the control panel and uncheck the auto check for updates you can turn it fof there or uninstall it is the best way.

Re: Java update
If you use Chrome for browsing and don't have any programs that use java, uninstalling is the best option simply due to security. If you don't know if any apps are using it, uninstall and see if any programs stop working. If they do and you need them, just re-install java. The re-install usually fixes the bugged repeating update issue, so a good reason to uninstall anyway.
Worth double checking in add/remove programs that all instances of java are gone. |
