Has Virgin done something to BBC 1 as poor picture?

i have been watching watching a lot of the Commonwealth games on BBC 1 HD and to be the picture qua;ity has been bad for a HD channel.

so has Virgin or the BBC lowered the quality of the feed due to the other feeds they have got going for the games?

Virgin are a main sponsor, so I can't see them doing anything to make it look worse.

It looks fine to me. In what way is it poor?

Main sponsor or not, VM wouldn't do anything to make a channel look worse. Just the opposite in fact. For example, when the bit rate of Channel 5 (SD) was reduced on satellite, VM switched to a landline feed to maintain quality.

I know they wouldn't - I should have used tongue in cheek smiley!

Just in that it keeps going Dark and then really bright.

also when Gary was on over the weekend he was wearing a shirt which it seems the HD feed didnt like as it was flicking like mad.

maybe its just me :)

You may have a point. It does sound like the sort of thing old CRTs would do. What TV do you have, and how is it connected to the TiVo, love?

(Just for the record, that's the first and quite possibly last time I've ever called anyone "love")

On BBC red button - it initially pixelates when selecting a sport.

sounds like you have a setting on your tv that adapts the picture to how bright the room is

It would be worth speaking to Samsung all the same. The TV should still be under warranty
