New Router Needed

Currently on a D Link 615 (as we all know how crap the SHub is at wireless)

Not had any issues really with it, but...

Towards the edges of my house, the wi-fi signal is quite weak, is there another router out there that has a really strong wireless signal. not terribly bothered if its also 5G compat or has AC.

I'd also like it (if possible) to have a small footprint, maybe comparable to the 615. Any thing out there network gurus?

Most routers these days are quite a bit bigger than the DIR-615, not least because the small size of the 615 makes it difficult to achieve the amount of separation needed between antennas for maximum performance.

However there really isn't anything that is going to be much stronger. The DIR-615 already transmits at 100% of the legal maximum, any router with significantly longer range is breaking the law.

Could your wireless problem be down to the spread of the signal.
Currently using an Asus RT-N56U which has a decent signal around my house.

Perhaps.

I may be able to utilise a shelf that'll make the small size not such an issue, is this any good?

Asus RT-N66U

I have an Asus RT-AC68U and the signal is still usable at the bottom of the garden.

Have you tried a tool such as http://www.techspot.com/downloads/5936-inssider.html to see if it's interference from other peoples routers causing a problem?
