Julian Assange: Warrant for Wikileaks founder upheld

Quote:

A Swedish court has ruled that an arrest warrant against Wikileaks founder Julian Assange on charges of sexual assault will stay in place.

Mr Assange, who denies the allegations, has sought refuge in the Ecuadorean embassy in London for the past two years to avoid extradition.

If he is sent to Sweden, he says he fears charges in the US over the leaking of secret government documents.

It has cost the taxpayer over six million quid to have the Ecuadorian embassy under surveillance and with police presence since he entered because Sweden keeps turning down the UK's offer of coming over to question him. Surely after this news it's time for our government to stand down?

Probably won't happen as Sweden and the UK are doing this for the US who we now know from leaked documents started a campaign against Wikileaks and Assange.

Boris and others have tried to get Sweden to pay for the policing before but they refused but I have a feeling they will pay if we say we are removing the police. Pretty sure America would give Sweden the money anyway if it keeps Assange in limbo a bit longer.

Seems the Swedes are having a rethink as statute of limitations loom:

Quote:

Swedish prosecutors have offered to travel to London to question Wikileaks founder Julian Assange over sex assault allegations.

Prosecutors had previously insisted on questioning Mr Assange in Sweden, after seeking his arrest in 2010.

Mr Assange denies the assault claims and has been living at the Ecuadorean embassy in London since 2012.

He fears that if he is sent to Sweden he could then be extradited to the US to face charges over leaking material.

This situation arose because of HIS behaviour with 2 of his SUPPORTERS. They both got together and discussed things they found out that what he did to each of them wasn't a one off, but a pattern of behaviour.
