External hard drive recommendations

So, I've had a HD camcorder for a little over 18 months and now I've filled up my Mac's internal drive.

I've done a fair bit of economising over the past few months and I am now genuinely at the point of needing to shift my stuff off the Mac for external archiving. I'm thinking about a 2 or 3TB model, USB 2 compatible and powered from the USB, and absolutely must be under £100.

What's my best option here, for retailer and quality within my budget?

I bought my Toshiba 2.5 inch drive for my daughters laptop but she changed her mind about it.

I then bought a caddy to put the drive in and it works just fine.

he above link looks a better option.

You won't get any 3TB drives powered from the USB port.

Thanks, that's worth knowing. I'm trying to future proof myself but 2TB is enough storage for now. I need it to be unobtrusive and inexpensive, so Mrs isn't constantly reminded that I've been out buying technology. :D

Look into a NAS drive.

Plug into your router and access anywhere in the world.

Couldn't live without mine. Doesn't fit the description of usb powered only though. Cheaper than a 3TB simple NAS you could probably get a usb + mains powered 3 or 4TB 3.5" disk which be reliable for longer + usb caddy.
