Laptop issue sony
Well was using it as normal one day all fine, next day orange charge light works but then it never powers up and repair agent stumped and laptop has inbuilt battery any hints

Re: Laptop issue sony
I would google the model number in the search bar with "problems" and see what comes up

Re: Laptop issue sony
One thing that will stop the POST dead in its tracks is a defective graphics card/chip and naturally there's no display. The PC normally emits one bleep if it has a bleeper.

Re: Laptop issue sony
Perhaps the OP needs to replace the power button.

Just been given another Sony laptop to look at that powers on for a second then back off again, which looks like it's a motherboard issue. Seen a lot of sony's have motherboard issues and if your power button is ok, I think it is likely the issue here too. Unfortunately they are the most expensive part to replace in the hope it fixes the problem... |
Re: Laptop issue sony
It's not that expensive these days. Mobos for older models can be found for less than £50 on Ebay.

Re: Laptop issue sony
Unfortunately it always seems to be newer models i'm seeing the mobo's go on. When I have looked up the price they have been a couple of hundred quid when it comes to the vaio's. Nice laptops but sony prices...

Re: Laptop issue sony
Yeah they're pretty expensive for current models. But after a couple years they usually drop pretty quick.
Shame though. I've not worked on servicing laptop internals for a few years, I always recall Sony's high end machines being exceptionally good but fairly mediocre in the consumer market. Then again I heard they were pulling out of the laptop market entirely? |
