Upgrade monitor and Graphics card or not?
Hey all
I am hoping you can offer me some advice please, I currently have a Asus P5G41T-M LX motherboard, Intel Core2 Quad CPU Q9450 @2.66GHz, 8GB of RAM, and a 520 SSD hard drive. I also have a NVIDIA GeForce 9500 GT graphics card hooked up by DVI to a Samsung SyncMaster 971P. My questions are: 1) Would I see any vast improvement in upgrading the monitor only? to something like this: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Dell-P2214H-...ds=dell+p2214h 2) Will I need a new graphics card and monitor to see any improvement? If so any 2.0 PCi Express graphics card recommendations for under £60? And monitors? 3) Will I see no vast improvement and should stick with what I have now? Thanks for your help!:tu: |
Re: Upgrade monitor and Graphics card or not?
If you just upgrade your monitor then your graphic card will struggle with 1080p for things like games etc.
It depends on what you use your PC for. I don't think you'd notice any difference with a budget of £60 for a graphics card, so I'd say keep things as they are till you consider replacing a few more parts with a bit more of a budget. |
Re: Upgrade monitor and Graphics card or not?
So just replacing the monitor for that one listed will not yield any advantage or benefit?
No difference to picture ---------- Post added at 09:30 ---------- Previous post was at 09:18 ---------- Out of interest which graphics card would you recommend? For my system |

Re: Upgrade monitor and Graphics card or not?
improvement in what?
If you buy a new screen it will have better image quality as your screen is quite old and most likely the back light not what it used to be new screens with LED backlights are a lot nicer. If you do not game them this is all you need you could also of course use both screens |

Maybe a little speed increase as well from the card? I could possibly spend a bit more on the graphics card if you have any recommendations? Thank you! |
Re: Upgrade monitor and Graphics card or not?
so no gaming? if this is the case your system should be fine with just the screen upgrade. My media center is only a dual core celeron 8 gig ram and onboard gfx runs 1080p no problems
The gfx card I did have in it originally only costs £17 now and that did 1080p easy too |

http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B...A3P5ROKL5A1OLE will my graphics card cope? and output 1080p? I will be using a DVI to HDMI cable. Or would a new graphics card also be a wise investment in this situation? Thank you! |
Re: Upgrade monitor and Graphics card or not?
I see no reason why not

Re: Upgrade monitor and Graphics card or not?
Your graphics card can already output four times that resolution and is considerably overspecced for what you need anyway. Personally I'd be considering downgrading your graphics card to save electricity.

So really my monitor is the weak link, do you think the one I posted above the Asus is a decent buy and one which I will notice an improvement on my Samsung? |
