Updating System chipset drivers
I want to wipe and reload my PC because of a few problems and before hand i am attempting to get the most updated drivers for hardware as possible.
On the MSI website my system chipset drivers for 990FXA date back to 2012 and what im wondering is if there are any newer ones on the AMD or ATI wesbite themselves as i cant find any. The driver i need is... 7xx/8xx/sb7xx/sb8xx series (except rs690 740) Thanks |
Re: Updating System chipset drivers
If your motherboard is by MSI the best current version of the drivers for it's chipset will normally be on the MSI site, rather than elsewhere. Remember that drivers won't need to be updated for motherboards that once any initial bugs are resolved. If MSI don't list a driver there probably isn't one.
If carrying out a major update, consider checking if the BIOS firmware version is current for your motherboard. People like AMD / Nvidia for graphics cards are providing update drivers at ongoing intervals, mostly because they cover a multitude of older and newer hardware and as games and suchlike create newer demands. Chipsets tend to be a lot less variable, and specific. Look separately for current drivers for your other hardware such as GPU, network card, sound, etc. Usual rule is to load the motherboard chipset driver first, reboot then anything else. |
