POP stopped working on ntl & VM accounts

I use Thunderbird as my email client. It's worked flawlessly for years. I have my old ntl address' and newer VirginMedia accounts set up through it (POP).

Today (27/5/2014), for some reason, it is failing to both send and retrieve emails. I have no idea why, as I have not altered any settings in Thunderbird at all.

I can use Webmail OK, and any mail sent to any of my email address' is forwarded to my iPhone as it always has.

It's just that Thunderbird has stopped playing ball.

Can anyone offer any help please?

I realise that is query is similar to the previous thread, but I didn't feel it was appropriate to hijack it. I hope I have done the right thing.

Can that be done on the likes of an email client like Outlook Express?
