External Hard Drive shows random number
External Hard Drive shows so many folders with random number which i can't delete.
folder Access denied You require permission from S-1-5-21-1606980848-764733703-1177238915-01003 to make changes to this folder? 3cfe3421ff1ac1f905e0cde9a2 I want to know how to get rid of these i have 20 of them on my external HDD. |
Re: External Hard Drive shows random number
these are from updates. There are apps available that should force delete a file. Eraser may well do it if selecting erase at next reboot

Gipo@moveonboot
http://www.gibinsoft.net/gipoutils/fileutil/ You just right click on the file and select "delete file(s) on next boot" from the context menu. |

.................................................. ........................................ you can't delete on next boot. i right click it only shows delete not next boot. GiPo@FileUtilities is a set of utilities for Windows 95/98/ME/NT/2000/XP. not for windows 8.1.. |

Re: External Hard Drive shows random number
These permissions are referring to accounts that do not exist on your computer. Most commonly when you take a drive from one computer and use it on another that does not have the same accounts.
If you have administrative rights on the machine then it's easy enough to reset permissions. Or if you don't have permissions you ought to put the drive back into the computer it was taken from and delete things from there. |
Re: External Hard Drive shows random number
or you could just copy what you need to save reformat the drive and copy it back again
