Help please PC won't fully boot up ?
3 Attachment(s)
Hi all
Really hope someone will be able to kindly help with this problem.... Family PC won't boot up fully (could have been caused by 11 year daughter not shutting down properly?) When I switch on I get (picture 1 attached) stating Windows Error Recovery when I choose 'Launch Start-up Repair (recommended) I get picture 2 attached and nothing more……………. waited about 5 minutes with nothing happening and ended up having to reset PC. If I choose Start Windows Normally PC seems to be booting up ok and then stops at Windows Logo and then seems to get stuck in a loop and keeps going back to Windows Logo again. Did try F8 safe mode but that just got stuck as well stating : Windows is loading files Totally stuck on what to go so would really appreciate any help or recommendations please Many thanks for your help and time Regards Mike |
Re: Help please PC won't fully boot up ?
It could a couple of things. I've had problems like this because of a bad strip of ram. Or it could be that the MBR needs to be rebuilt which I suspect is to be the case.
See here... http://support.microsoft.com/kb/927392 Though I'd wait for a few more comments first to see if anyone else is in agreement. (It's a bit too early to get my head around anything at the moment). :) |

Do you have the Windows DVD or did you create a recovery DVD when you purchased the PC, if all else fails you will need it. |

I think I have a system 'store or repair ' disc which I created a couple of months ago...although not really sure how to use it. Will try when I get home this evening and post an update... Thanks for the help Mike |
Re: Help please PC won't fully boot up ?
find the disc and boot from it try start up repair from there if that fails try system restore if that fails then there should be an option to enter the recovery of the machine and reset to factory defaults ( if it is branded and not a home build that is) do not suppose you created your own image at all?
If you need windows ISO for your key or to boot and attempt recovery they appear to be available here http://www.techfleece.com/2012/10/18...ally-for-free/ ensure you get the right version |
Re: Help please PC won't fully boot up ?
If you can get it to a DOS window, try typing rstrui.exe to get system restore to open.

There's a lesson in there I reckon. When it comes to computers maybe we sometimes expect things to happen and jump to conclusions a bit too quickly. Sometimes my laptop takes ages to update and when it does I always start to anticipate imminent 'death' after about 10 mins. I just can't help it... :erm: |
Re: Help please PC won't fully boot up ?
Keeping your machine defragged and clear of temp files helps updates install easier and faster.

Re: Help please PC won't fully boot up ?
ive not defragged a machine in years Win 7 and 8 keep it well organised without it and seeing as I use SSDs for my OS which should not be defragged anyway
