High Utilisation
I'm considering switching my BB back to VM , my other options are FTTC as BT have installed a cab just up the road and my exchange seems to be accepting orders just not on our cab yet :(
Last time I was with VM our area suffered badly with high utilisation grinding our 30mb to a halt at peak time. I've searched my postcode on the community site and there's been nothing since the middle of last year reported. Is the network still as bad for high utilisation and how long does it take them to fix when an area suffers from this ? I'm not really well up on the tech side of cable BB but seem to read a lot about people having 8 downstream channels , what's this and do you get this on all tiers ? |
Re: High Utilisation
I doubt we can help you with your particular area - you've done the research on it. Other areas, of course, have no bearing on yours.
The 8 channels doesn't really relieve congestion. If everyone's trying to do their top speed at the same time, then your segment will be congested. It's the number of connected homes per segment that determines congestion. You could live in hope of the resurrection and ask how many homes on your potential segment are actually connected. |
Re: High Utilisation
Try and get some people in your postcode to run a think broadband graph for a week. Something like this, but get 7 days worth. This will tell you if there is problems in the area.

Re: High Utilisation
Whats the upload speed I should receive for the 50mb product ?
Does the latest Nexus phone and Nexus 7 tablet work with 5 GHz ? |
Re: High Utilisation
Upload speed on 50mb is 3mb.
The new Nexus phone does have 5ghz, i just use 2.4ghz though as it's better at distance. No idea on the tablet. |
