Bit of an odd question...
My landlord has comissioned a private company to do the repointing on all their properties. My neighbour just had them doing the work on his house, and told me a bit of a horror story.
Apparently the company doing the work cut his phoneline and pulled the mounting point out of the wall, so they could work unencumbered. BT have quoted him a substantial fee to repair the damage, I assume because its not technically a fault but "wilful damage". The company behind it are refusing to cover the cost and the landlord is refusing to accept liability. Yes, he already has an appointment with a lawyer. He's not going to let it rest like that. My property is due to be re-pointed next week. I am concerned that they will just rip the cable box off the wall and cut the cable with wirecutters, much like they did to my neighbours phone line. I am wondering what VM's stance to damage done in a similar case would be, and any potential charges. Does anyone know? |
Re: Bit of an odd question...
Virgin probably wouldnt charge but a repair is £35 or a replacment cable is £99

Re: Bit of an odd question...
Legally, you are entitled to "peaceful possession" and the destruction of or damage to this piece of infrastructure would infringe that contractual condition between yourself and the landlord. I suggest you make contact with the landlord and sort out a plan.

I think I would take pictures of the cables and box before the work and then after.
