Forgotten Password
 

Hi All -
I've a new additional desktop running Win 7 Ult. Old PC running XP.
Installed Office Pro 2010 on new PC (already on old XP machine) and trying to set up Outlook email but getting nowhere.
I've copied Account details from XP machine (running Outlook no problem) into new PC and clicked 'Test Connection'. Keep getting error message Verify Username and Password. All 'Test Connections' are bouncing back OK to XP PC but no joy on new machine.
I'm fairly sure the problem is password related. I've tried the p/w originally issued years ago (by Blueyonder)and one other option that it may be but, to honest, its been so long since the XP unit was set up I'm not really sure that either option is correct and, of course, it is only displayed in existing Accounts as a series of asterisks.
I would appreciate any advice to resolve this and restore my sanity!!

If you log on to My Virgin Media, you can change the password on any email account, that is of course if you know the password on the main account!

SIW will not run on Windows 8 so I cant give you directions to the password section but if a non techie such as me found it I am sure you will.

Can't you just log into your main Virginmedia account and reset the password for the mailbox?

Great Info - Many Thanks to all that responded.
Changed Password in 'My Virgin Media' and in seconds it is all working.:tu:
Opened Outlook - The 'Enter Network Password' dialogue box opened 3 times (displaying asterisks for presumably the old p/w each time as the number of asterisks did not match new p/w. Memo to self: When changing p/w always use different number of characters :) I entered new p/w and checked 'Save Password' box every time (3) and no more dialogue box.
