Three's 4G network goes live

So Three's 4G network went live to a large batch of customers today with another large batch happening on Monday.

We’re working hard behind the scenes on our 4G rollout. It’s already well underway with a limited group of customers in London, Birmingham and Manchester. The reason for launching to a limited group is so when we continue to roll out our network to all 4G Ready customers in 2014, we’ll ensure they get the best possible experience. As for the rest of our customers, you’ll be given the ability to access our 4G network between January and March 2014. Once that’s done, when you’re in a 4G area, you’ll get 4G on your existing plan. No extra charges, no hidden fees, no new contracts. Just fast, dependable internet on the go.

Not yet, in one of the 50 cities being updated this year so hopefully not too long to wait.

I wonder if it's worthwhile dropping broadband altogether and just teather from three?

No as they are about to restrict the amount of data you can teather every month, so people don't start trying to use it as a residential broadband service.

I have 4G from 3, had it since the start of this month :)

Not for existing customers, only new sign ups from March, the tethering limit will be 2GB.

Regardless when you signed up they still throttle tethering for most of the day, sometimes down to as low as 3Mbps even on 4G.
