Cooling Material Tape/Stick On
Is there such a product like tape that has cooling agents in it. I need something to stick on a metal case for cooling, preferably not anything hideous.

Re: Cooling Material Tape/Stick On
What are you trying to cool?
There might be something made for it already to help the cooling. |
Re: Cooling Material Tape/Stick On
Large surface area is the way to go... old fashioned heatsinking with fins?
|
Re: Cooling Material Tape/Stick On
@ Damien... Its a metal case. It does have vents but there is a certain area of the case that could do with cooling but I cannot put a fan in so I thought something cooling, like tape could work instead.
@ Taf... I can't find something big enough. minimum size 14cmx3cm maximum 20cmx5cm |
Re: Cooling Material Tape/Stick On
A sheet of aluminum folded like a concertina and fixed solidly to the case might work.
You could go all 21st century with electronic cooling (peltier effect) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thermoelectric_cooling |
Re: Cooling Material Tape/Stick On
What is the case for?
Have you got a picture of it? |
Re: Cooling Material Tape/Stick On
What about foil insulation held on with double sided tape?

Re: Cooling Material Tape/Stick On
@ Damien... no its top secret :) it has a board under it, its not exactly omitting too much heat but the processor area is. I have a decent heatsink on it but space is an issue on the board or shall I say inside with it being very small so as a 'test product' I'd just throw on a heat extractor of some sort.
@ raging bull... foil insulation? I want to get rid of the heat dude :) ---------- Post added at 18:54 ---------- Previous post was at 18:25 ---------- Quote:
or that thermoelectric cooling they looks very interesting thanks Taf :D |
Re: Cooling Material Tape/Stick On
Could you fit a old intel or amd cooler on it?
|
Re: Cooling Material Tape/Stick On
the ones i have laying around are a too bit small. I couldn't stick down 2 or 3 but it looks odd.

Re: Cooling Material Tape/Stick On
Does that tape draw heat away ?
|
Re: Cooling Material Tape/Stick On
na but thanks. I thought may be there was a tape around that has agents which attract heat and in turn get rid.

Re: Cooling Material Tape/Stick On
Pull up a sandbag.... many, many years ago when I was but a lad....
Our Chief Technician built a semi-conductor power supply that absolutely blazed with excess heat, so he flattened lengths of old copper water pipe, drilled holes in one end and used self-tapping screws to attach them to the case, all around the rectifier bridges that were panel mounted. He bent the flattened pipes to the most desirable position and never had heat problems again. |
