Peak time latency increase (PL6 - Plymouth)…
We’ve recently been upgraded to the 120Mb service, slightly prior to this we were upgraded from 6 to 8 downstream and from 1 to 2 upstream channels. Immediately after the upgrade in channels, we saw our peak time latency steady out.
Since then we’ve had the odd evening where latency has increased by a small margin, other nights it doesn’t increase at all. All of a sudden within the last week, I’ve noticed our peak time latency on our TBB graph has increased considerably… It isn’t like peak time latency we’ve experienced during previous episodes of congestion, take a look: http://www.thinkbroadband.com/ping/s...2-02-2014.html Speeds during this time are odd, some sites we only get 1-2Mb and others it’s the usual 120Mb (using speedtest.net and the TBB speed test)! I live in Plymouth in the PL6 area code… Our train line has been washed away recently, one theory is that some of Virgin Media’s fibre has been washed away, reducing the available capacity??? |

it is possible that some of VMs infrastructure has been damaged meaning that there are now more of you in your area using less capacity. Why don't you post a message on the VM forum and ask them what is going because I doubt the ming mongs in India will have a clue. That graph shows typical core network saturation. It is possible they're having to re-route via backup links that have reduced capacity as you say.

Same here in Southampton, fine off peak 2000ms pings peak time, india denying it says nothing wrong
I told him of people complaining of same thing on there community forum but he didnt seem to care. they sending engineer tuesday who because he'll come off peak will probably find nothing wrong! So frustrating, glad im out of contract, BT Infinity looking very tempting right now. |

Almost a week later, it is still happening… I haven’t reported it as a fault, as I can’t be doing with the hassle of trying to communicate with them.

I think that iam getting a similar issue in Torquay iam having awful issues watching video from various sources sadly I have had to resort to using a vpn get watch anything,iam also having speed issues on various speed test servers this happens between 6-11 pm every day.According to Virgin Media there is no issue i guess i must be imagining it ive included my latest thinkbroadband graph below the packet loss between 12-2 was a failed software update

Iam glad its not just me if you get a second can you do a speed here its based in Amsterdam in peak time im currently getting 80-100 meg but come 8pm it will be down to 3 meg. thanks

I think the issue maybe fixed to a certain degree will keep on testing over the next few days

As the issue is with the core and/or routing, then it will only affect certain sites/servers/routes, and doesn't have anything to do with your own connection.
Hence, CS will likely not see a problem if they check your line since the problem has nothing to do with your line. First-line support probably wouldn't understand core network problems anyway even if they could actually access the required interfaces to diagnose them. |
