Would you subscribe to an app or Now TV to obtain HBO shows?

Sky Atlantic is not available on VM TV, meaning that HBO shows are unavailable to VM customers.

Some viewers have got round this by buying a Now TV box for £9.99 to run alongside their VM setup. I think the cheapest subscription that can be had at the moment is the student deal (open to all) for £4.99 a month.

Additionally, there has been speculation that an app that could receive this service may be added to TiVo.

I am wondering how many VM TV viewers have (or would) be willing to pay extra to receive Home Box Office shows to circumvent the lack of Sky Atlantic on the VM platform, so have set up a poll here:

I would subscribe to an app on TiVo if it became available at a reasonable price.

It's currently available for £4.99 a month, but AFAIK this is an offer that will eventually end.

IIRC the full price is £9.99.

Would you feel this to be to be reasonable, or too expensive?

Apart from Sky Atlantic, we get all the channels anyway, so in reality it's like a standalone subscription to this one channel.

£9.99 is way too expensive for one channel but if it was a fiver there would be many more takers one suspects.

As far as I'm aware the regular price hasn't been set so far.

A Now app would help those (like me) to obtain Sky Atlantic and HBO content

But why should a Premium service costing £15 be free (BT Sport) and a non premium channel (Atlantic) be charged for?

Because Sky will class Sky Atlantic as a premium channel if they agree carriage deals with other providers.

Why?

It's non premium on Sky, as are Sky One and Sky Living; they aren't sold to VM as Premium channels.

Sky Atlantic is non premium on Sky because that's the way they want to shape it to attract subscribers but if they agree carriage with other providers they will be asking for a premium price and of that you can be assured PB.

You are making assumptions, you have no evidence for.

And even I they did make it a premium channel, it would be a darn site cheaper than BT sport that people on XL are forced to pay for if they want the other non premium XL exclusive channels.

Because people like to pay for the content they watch.

I would subscribe to an app on TiVo, but would not be willing to more than a fiver...

Really?
I mean people DO pay - I pay for my nowtv on my roku box - but I'd much rather it was free, although obviously that's not going to happen.
