Well its not really coming. Its being trialled and could come due to their fibre BB services. Big difference.

Does it matter? While it's nice to have access to Next Gen tech (and I am as much a geek as the next man), will people really see the difference on the 40, 50 or 60 inch screens they will probably buy? 4K resolution looks good, but you need a screen far larger than most homes can easily accomodate to really appreciate it (IMO).

Because for some people, it's about the numbers, and not about whether those numbers actually mean anything. For proof, have a look at the 'Coming Soon to Virgin Media' thread, which is full of people for whom getting another channel in the EPG is an end in itself, regardless of whether the channel is any good, or if they would ever watch it...

Surely that depends on viewing distance. You can't just have a blanket statement like that without any facts.

He can have whatever statement he wants. ;)

HD TV is largely a matter of perception as it is. If you sit too close to it, it's noticeably inferior to a still photo viewed on a decent computer screen. Yes, it's better than SD, but that really isn't saying much.

It depends on a lot of things. Including how good people's eye sight is. I doubt a lot of people have good enough eyesight to see the difference between 2k and 4k on a screen the size most people have in their homes.

You can ask for facts all you want, but I did state it was my opinion..
