Youtube 'subscription' suspicion

What's the "subscribe" request for on the VM Youtube channel?

Why would I want to subscribe? What would I get?

Does subscribing involve paying extra for the services received or is this service free?

Why is none of this explained in any of the paperwork,or online,or onscreen?

In this case subscribe just means you follow that persons channel and are kept updated. There are no men in black with giant nets waiting for you to click it :p:

So there are no extra charges for any of the Youtube features, and if I want to subscribe then, for some reason,I'd just be subscribing to another user's channel?

Yes, Youtube is a free service, which is supported by ads.

At the moment, they are trialing pay per view for some channels.
