phone replacment after accident...

recently dropped my phone into water.rang vm up and they said the "free"insurance didnt cover it-only for loss or on the phone being stolen. sent the phone for repair, apparently it is beyond economical repair. now i have to pay my contract and i have no phone,as vm say it will not replace it. anyone else had this problem? remember the free insurance is not worth the paper it is written on!!:td:

Virgin phone insurance DOES cover water damage ,i myself had had to claim in the past also this

Having said that i don't know if there is a difference between a "free" policy given as a special offer and my £7 p/m policy

just checked the free insurance is the same so you should be covered

Can you claim on household insurance assuming the excess wont get you either?

£150 excess sounds awfully like the £159 Apple charge for repairing an iPhone!

I recently dropped my iPhone down the loo, rescued it, rinsed it quickly under the tap, shook it really well then put it on top of the hot water tank for a week and lo and behold, it started working again. If this works for an iPhone, it ought to work for yours, whatever make it is.

Yes the downside to the 'free' insurance is the extremely large excess fee.

even the paid insurance has excess fees of £70 or £150 dependent on the price band of the phone ,i can't actually see any difference between the 'free' and the paid for

Put it in a bag of uncooked rice in a warm place in the house for a week. The rice will draw the moisture out.

I was told I had to pay £70.00 for my htc one v, so I never claimed bought a new one from ebay for £56.03, unwanted gift...so all was good.

This needs looked at my some sort of regulator. How can they claim free insurance when the excess exceeds or matches the value of the phone.

Virgin mobile has lost touch. The note 3 even with 50% staff discount is still a rip off. Looks like I'll be leaving virgin mobile in a few months

Re: phone replacment after accident...

its a sony xperia l,apparently your replacement phone comes directly from the insurance and not VM,so the range is not so good.had to call again today and still no further forward. seems a letter to VM will be in the post next week.i told the insurance that the s2 was an old phone and i could buy it for the excess charge of £70.

S2 even though old is still a good phone.
