Why are VOD durations sometimes wrong?

Sometimes, the duration of a programme on VOD is incorrect.

I was wondering if the lengths of programmes are input manually??

I had assumed that the system & software would be able to pick up and display the correct duration, as a DVD or PVR recording is able to.

Anybody?

Some examples would be useful.

Program, channel, scheduled time, displayed time, .......

Try any of the music videos, or the movie previews.

I can't remember exactly why it happens. Something missing in the metadata maybe?

Examples: The last CBB eviction was said to be for 1 hour, but was on for 1.5 hours (less adverts) other C5 programmes seem to show the length of a one hour show as one hour, whereas it only last for eg 44 mins due to their being no or little advertising breaks.

Can't seem to remember any non C5 shows, hmmm, maybe it's only a C5 problem??
