abortive visit charges

just a thought really, how can openreach charge a cp for a no access or abortive visit when they ( when contractors attend ) they are not actually incurring any ( engineering visit ) costs.
ive had a few of these lately and it grates that we ( contractors ) dont get paid for these wasted journeys but openreach charge the cp's.

Must be part of the deal to encourage cps to keep trying to get the customer in

The company I work for also charges for no access/abortive visits. The chargeisn't as much as the full job, but I assume it is to cover the cost of lost productivity and fixed costs associated with the job, transport costs, office costs for dealing with the schedule etc.

yes, openreach charge the cp's who then charge the end users but the contractor who has had a wasted journey and incurred costs gets nothing.

Isn't that down to the commercial agreement that you have in place?

yeh would be if i was working for a reputable company , we were rushed onto the contract on a good day rate, unfortunately when it went to price they stitched us up. could have walked but had nowhere else to go. ive never had a contract out of them, wouldnt be worth a toss anyway.
