Linksys bring back an old favourite (the WRT range)

Yep, Linksys have seen fit to add another router to the WRT range (which includes the classic WRT54G).

http://reviews.cnet.com/networking-a...-35833876.html

The new router is apparently the most powerful on the market with a 1.2GHz CPU, 128MB of Flash and 256MB of DDR3 RAM. It also includes USB3, USB2 and eSata connectivity.

It also includes 4 antennae, and, as with the WRT54G, supports third party firmware.

Only the $300 price putting me off buying a ton of these.

To be honest the old WRT54Gs are still way overpriced now on the second hand market, selling for 2-3x more than the DIR-615 for example.

Yet the DIR-615 runs all the same open-source firmwares and more than the WRT54G, as well as having universally better specs in every respect.

People are paying over the odds purely for the reputation now and nothing else
