I like Jamie Oliver and his "food truths" & its good that his actions have led to a change in the US.
As stated in the article you've linked to, this isn't a process used in Europe by McD's to mechanically reclaim meat/sinew treat, reconstitute and then feed to us minions.
But not only does this happen with beef products its also is virtually the same process to get pork/chicken carcase dregs from bin to plate and we (and those over the pond) still are happy to put this crap in our stomachs.
Hot Dogs for one, very cheap sausages value range are another & one brand in particular Richmond sausages which people think are branded low-mid premium sausage but they are not, there is quite a long list and Google can be your friend if you want to find out more.
On the point of Richmond sausages, read the meat content and then split one open and compare that against say a Tesco butchers choice (other own brands of comparable price) you'll be surprised.

We make our own beefburgers tiz and as for sausages always buy the best you can even if it cost a little more.

It is still legal to use so long as it is declared in the list of ingredients. It is not allowed to contribute to the declared meat content, however.

I go to Phils in my village high street.I've known him for years.I've I seen his medals and awards for his sausages.I watch him make them in the shop and he'll even make them for me when he's run out of what I want..He sells nothing but sausages and he is doing good business.His range is amazing.

But I'm lucky.Most people do not have an independent butcher in their high street.I have two excellent ones where I can get a very good choice..Sadly one does have to pay extra because they cannot compete price wise with the Supermarket.

Independent shops of any sort only survive if we still use them.
