Nov '13 update - Pink hue on wake-up & no sound

Hallo!

I've attempted a search on this but I haven't yielded anything obvious.

Since the TiVo update last week, I am noticing occasional issues on waking the system up out of standby.

Upon waking up the picture will be bathed in a pink hue, almost as if you were viewing the screen through a coloured filter. This is accompanied by a complete lack of audio. The TiVo still responds, the menu works and everything, save for the sound and the pink tinge.

This seems to be fixed by putting the TiVo back into standby and waking it up again. The hue is gone and sound is available. Once the TiVo has been in standby for a good length of time, the first wake-up usually results in the pinkness.

I have fully rebooted the TiVo but it doesn't seem to have helped this occasional issue.

Has anyone else experienced this? The unit was behaving fine before the update as far as I could tell.

Note: I am fairly certain I am not wearing rose tinted glasses.

HDMI handshake timing issue perhaps? Do you switch your tvio and tv on at the same time? Try waiting a few seconds after switching your tv on before switching the tivo out of standby?

To be honest mate I'd try a different hdmi lead if it's still the same get onto vm.

Thanks, Scrooge, I've done a bit of experimenting based on your comments and I think you may be onto something. It seems the situation will occur if the TiVo is powered up before the TV, even if a reasonable delay (5-10 seconds) is introduced. Bringing the TV out of stand-by first and then the TiVo gives a consistent clean result. Means I can live with it now!

Thank you.

Ooooh I have been getting this as well, thought it was my tv playing up.
My TiVo is left on all the time so it is a quick call to VM in the morning.
I find that either turning the tv off and on again or reconnecting the hdmi works.

It's nice to know I'm not unique!

On the remote chance that we may be looking at a compatibility issue, my TV is a Samsung Series 5 LED.

Would you be kind enough to report back if your call to VM results in anything interesting?

Well wouldn't you know it, my TV is a Samsung series 5 46" LED as well.
If I get anywhere I will report back here.
Don't hold your breath though, I have slammed the phone down more than once when they start with the BS to blame my equipment.

I have seen the occasional issue with no sound when starting up but switching channels seems to clear this. I get the sound via an optical lead to my amplifier.

I can confirm that I get pink hue on start most times now since the uodate. Sound is fine though.

I have notcied (the noise what i think it is), the hard drive clicking on when you turn the box on via the remote. The other day, it clicked 10 times before starting up - didn't sound too healthy.

I have a new 1tb box and LG plasma FYI.

Sorry to jump in late, just noticed the thread. I get the same issue, but going through a Yamaha AV amp. It seems to happen only when the tivo is woken from standby before the amp is powered up. Switching the input on the amp to anything else then back to tivo fixes it.

Getting it too, and also a message about HDMI not being supported. Have to keep messing about with the HDMI leads. Not sure if it is the splitter causing it. Phone line is dead as well, engineer coming out on Friday to look at it.
