Manually set up ITV HD for satellite viewing in Scotland
Seeing as the muppets at STV have still not got round to launching an HD channel on satellite, and have not launched a +1 (both of which the ITV company broadcasting in England and Wales managed to do some time ago), I thought it would be worthwhile to put on record that you can receive these channels anyway, despite STV's attempts to block them.
This is nothing illegal, and there are already other places on the web that explain how to do it, but IMO the more web pages contain the information the better. It may even prompt STV to pull its finger out and join the 21st century broadcasting revolution. What you need to do, in order to get ITV HD and ITV1+1 on your Sky or Freesat box, is perform a manual scan for the frequency where those channels are broadcast. The way you do this will differ depending on what equipment you have, so perhaps the best thing would be for anyone who wants to do this, to post the details of their box and we can then see about finding exact instructions for manual scanning. However, what won't change for all boxes is these details: Frequency: 10832 (or 10.832) Polarization: H Symbol Rate: 22000 (or 22.0) FEC: 5/6 There are about half a dozen ITV variants on this frequency. ITV HD and ITV1+1 are both among them. So, if you have a Freesat or Sky satellite box, and would like to manually add these channels, post below with the details of your box and let's see if we can get you connected. |
