Students in Twin Towers costumes stunt

Two students who dressed as the Twin Towers in a fancy dress competition have been condemned by university and students' union bosses.

Silly stunt or grossly offensive and insensitive?

IMHO these young women need their heads testing.

they are probably just thick and did not think. Schools in this country and the poor education standard are churning out almost a whole generation of stupid people.

They would have been 7 when 9/11 happened.. So I doubt if it has the same emotional impact that it has to those of us who were adults and watched the events unfold live that day.

Not really a big issue is it?

File under "seemed like a good idea at the time", along with Prince Harry's Nazi uniform etc, etc, etc.

Not the same impact true but I can't think how anyone in their right mind could think this was a good idea, especially 2 seemingly well educated young people. My eldest is that age and he certainly doesn't think it was an acceptable thing to do.

I wonder what the response would have been had they turned up dressed as Auschwitz crematoria. They weren't born then but would that have been a sufficient excuse to mock such awful events?

Do I think they should be severely punished and kicked out of uni? No. Do I find the thought that anyone (other than an Islamic extremist or anarchist) would find this acceptable behaviour worrying? Yes.

Anyway I dare say they'll think twice next time they enter a fancy dress competition... ;)

Halloweens suppose to be scary but getting a thrill from a horrific event is pretty clueless. It doesn't really matter of age, someone has to be 'responsible'. Unis are always in the news for student crap, last year it was something to do with Nazis. Don't you learn this stuff in secondary school, 12-16 ? its not like university is teaching them, unless of course its foreign students who haven't somehow heard of anything :erm: no excuses, dumbass.

Bang out of order! They have no respect.

I agree with everyone they should have shown more respect, I think the Uni should punish them but not kick them out as this could ruin their future just because of 1 mistake, everyone deserve a chance to redeem themselves.
All the girl said sorry they should be striped of the shopping vouchers and then let it lie and make them redeem themselves, plus the parents should kick them a swift kick up the ass.
