DLM with multiple modems

From what I understand (and may be wrong), the DSLAM is what controls the DLM on a fibre line. Is the data stored there done on a per line basis or by MAC address of the cable modem?

I'm wondering what the effect of switching out my current modem with another (and possibly doing this multiple times) would be and thus what happens behind the scenes.

Salvaged a 2012 Eci/r from my old place today, thinking of putting OpenWRT on. Think it can be done without too much fiddling now.

Per line.

There is no cable modem.

There is no MAC address.

Re: DLM with multiple modems

Obviously I made a mistake by saying cable but the modem does have a MAC address and part of the DSLAM tests must be based on the equipment the other end. Good to know it is based per line though. Does the DSLAM store some type of table per line so it knows a little history of line quality, to make decisions on what changes it might make?

Based on this info it seems I won't have to worry about any DLM changes based on a few quick swopovers.

As said, its done by line, so swapping modem out multiple times will just drop you onto a lower profile
