Superhub 2 (v26) only locking to DOCSIS1
Hi all,
I've had a Superhub 2 for around more than 2 months now and it had always been running fine and connected to DOCSIS 3 (6 downstreams and 2 upstreams). Last week, the v26 update was rolled out and all Superhub 2 in the Witton area in Aston are connecting to DOCSIS1... I've had 2 engineers out who fit in a new Superhub 2 and checked the Superhub 2 directly from the cab. It didn't lock to DOCSIS 3 so he sent it to the engineer departments. Today, I got a phonecall it was complete... however, it didn't lock to DOCSIS 3 and only has only 1 upstream. I managed to ring level 2 support who said that with v26.. Superhub 2 doesn't lock to DOCSIS3 and that it's a bug? Does anyone else have this issue. Code:

Re: Superhub 2 (v26) only locking to DOCSIS1
Can't really help you much with the error apart from suggest checking the cables are connected tightly, that usually resolves any issues I have with it not locking to the extra channels. However, I have V26 and mine locks to Docsis 3.0, so sounds like you may have been told a lie! :(

Re: Superhub 2 (v26) only locking to DOCSIS1
It's a known issue with V26 that was supposed to be fixed before general release I still get it sometimes when I reboot.

Re: Superhub 2 (v26) only locking to DOCSIS1
Everything is secured tightly. The fact is I never had the docsis1 issue before v26...the engineer put a 6db attenuator on but it's not related since the previous super hub 2 had errors with no attenuator. It's after v26

Re: Superhub 2 (v26) only locking to DOCSIS1
This is indeed a known bug, identified during the trial of Superhub 2, and still present in V26. A reset of the SH usually will get you more downstream and upstream channels.

Re: Superhub 2 (v26) only locking to DOCSIS1
Mental note: Don't reboot ever.

Re: Superhub 2 (v26) only locking to DOCSIS1
I've just pinhole reset and after an hour.. I finally get internet access. It's still locked on 1 downstream + 1 upstream.

Re: Superhub 2 (v26) only locking to DOCSIS1
299 MHz is docsis 3 freq there must be something wrong with the levels for the modem to do this . The super hubs will drop the 6 or 8 downstream channels and go from 2 or 3 upstream channels to 1 it's a self preservation mode it will still let you get on the net but not the speeds you expect . It will go back if the problem goes ie noise on the node or Ingres on the node . W
If the modem does connect to more than 1 ds and 1 us check the levels :D |

Re: Superhub 2 (v26) only locking to DOCSIS1
well this says it all doesn't it. Why oh why would you release a firmware update when trials revealed a bug which essentially incapacitates the modem? Even if they thought they had fixed it they should have tested it thoroughly to make sure. This is shub1 all over again; bang out the firmware updates regardless of bugs.
Who thinks they'll have to wait another 6-8 weeks for the next firmware update? |
Re: Superhub 2 (v26) only locking to DOCSIS1
I have just had to have my shub 2 replaced yesterday after it showed signs of failing, phoned VM on Thursday and had it swapped Friday. Fast response from VM and back on line without to much trouble.
Could not switch it to modem mode till late last night however. https://www.cableforum.co.uk/images/local/2013/09/1.png |
