Dreams about cheating

I keep dreaming about my partner cheating on me. Last night was pretty bad for me.

We have been together for two years now and 2 months ago moved into a house together. I trust her 100% and know she would not cheat ever.

I have had a bad history with partners with them either cheating on me, treating me like crap or just not working out for various reasons.

Last night in my dream we was in a new house together (Not the one we are in now but another) and there was another man there. I did not recognize him but in the dream it had transpired my partner had been seeing this guy for 4 weeks and he was moving in and I had to move out.

I then for some reason was dreaming of their life and I was no longer me in the dream. I woke up panicking and had to check my partner was lying next to me.

Took me a while to go back to sleep and its still on mind :(

I have spoken to my partner who said Its just a dream and means nothing.

I have had other similar dreams like this. The one before this involved her saying she couldn't live like this anymore and left me. She wouldn't answer her phone and again I woke up checking if she was there.

I have about 3-4 a month and I don't like them.

What do they mean?

Nothing. Dreams are just your brain's way of processing information.

I think the fact you have to ask this question means you do not actually trust her 100% at all and you are anxious about her leaving you

Dreams are like Vegas, what happens in them stays in them ;)

You seem to be in a settled relationship with your own house together.
A house is a big thing and your partner has decided to do all this with you and live with you.
I don't think you need to worry.

Obviously unlike a computer hard drive we can't format our brains so there will always be memories of the past and past experiences that have happened to you.
It is normal for all of these experiences to get jumbled up in dreams.

If you feel that the past is always coming back and making you feel worried then talking to a councilor about ways you can leave the past behind and focus on your future may be a good idea.

Dreams are either your fantasy or worry... in this case I'd say it is the latter.

there's lots of theories on dreams. I remember doing an essay on dream theory for my first Psychology diploma. there's a couple of examples here - http://psychology.about.com/od/state...m-theories.htm
don't forget though, there is also what's called 'Absence of Theory', meaning that dreams are quite simply, just dreams. random firings of neurons during a sleep state that take no meaning from the consciously experienced environment.

I agree. I have occassional dreams where my mother is present in scenarios with a specific girlfriend be it on holiday etc. In the real world, time and circumstances mean they could never have co-existed.
Technically speaking when you power down computer memory, you get random bit errors that occur. I justify this as what happens to my brain at the end of a day.

It's your insecurity showing through in your dreams. If your happy and she is happy then no need to subconsciously worry (easier said than done)
You could also talk to her about it, it will set your mind at ease.
