Do you turn your Sky Hub off at night?
Does anyone turn off their Sky hub / Sky router off at night either to save money / not have it on if no one is using it, etc?
I was told it needed to be on for the first two weeks to check the line is all OK but now can be switched off. Thanks. Halcyon. |
Re: Do you turn your Sky Hub off at night?
The same question could apply to any ADSL hub.
I have a BT Homehub; I leave it switched on. There might be a few watts to be saved by turning it off at night, but I like to be able to check mail first thing in the morning without waiting for the hub to boot up first. Sometimes I browse the web a bit before going to bed, and if there are app updates for the iPad I always set those downloading just before I go to sleep. "Always on" was one of the selling points of broadband when it first came out, after all. |

I can see it is useful or that purpose.
It is just for quite a few hours it is not in use so I was thinking of putting it on a timer to boot up just before I wake up for example. |

Nope, not a student, but I do like to turn off everything before I go to bed. Guess it is a habit of doing things that way. Plus I've always preferred not to have the wifi beaming out whilst I'm sleeping.

Only when a relative is staying as I sleep on the floor in the living room with the blue light from my Virgin hub shining shining into me. Apart from that, I use the overnight time to download things.
