MLB on TV Anywhere

I'm getting a rights restrictions warning.

Why is this? What other programmes can I not watch on tv anywhere?

The rights for MLB do not stretch to mobile streaming. You need to watch via your tv.

Do we know if it is available to stream online via BT's sport app?

It's probably down to the fact that you need to subscribe directly to mlb.tv to stream live and on demand MLB so they won't want it streamed elsewhere. I'd imagine this was why ESPN America was never on TV Anywhere.

I know mlb are mega strict on streaming and do it all themselves. It just makes you wonder what other sports might be affected and whether this needs to be communicated a bit better.

TBH it's up to BT Sport to advise that - as any restrictions would apply to their own app too I'd expect.

And, they actually do have a list here http://bt.custhelp.com/app/answers/d...6401,6574,6615

FWIW, as the season is half over mlb.tv is quite cheap now. You can get a normal sub for $39.99 (about £25) or a premium sub (which lets you also watch on iOS or Android devices) for $49.99 (about £32).

Annoyingly, US-based TiVo customers have access to an mlb.tv app. Wonder how likely we are to see that one over here.

Why is it up to BT? I don't purchase a single thing from BT.

I'm wary of coming across as having a moan here - I'm not. I'm chuffed to bits with yesterdays XL tv news. Just thinking out loud.

I have access to the BT Sports app and no they don't have rights to show MLB beyond their TV service. This was the same in the 'old' ESPN set up.

I've got about 250 channels. I haven't a clue who owns each one, to go reading each company's website looking for the small print on what content is available and isn't.

And Virgin Media can't predict what will and won't be available as they don't run the channel, nor is there any advance notification, barring what is on the channel's website
