Leaving the MOD
 
Hello all,

Im leaving the MOD and im looking at a career in telecommunications im currently on a course which i will have the following quals.

Level 3 BETEC Advanced award in managing passive optical networks and air blown fibre systems
Level 3 BETEC Advanced award in access networks
C&G 6156 Signing, lighting and guarding
C&G 3667/02 unit 101 Basic principles of communications cabling
C&G 3667/02 unit 102 Fibre optic cabling in an internal environment
C&G 3667/02 unit 103 Fibre optic cabling in an external environment
C&G 3667/02 unit 104 Copper cabling in an internal environment

Conversant with principles and standards for Passive Optical Networks (PONs) and Point to Multi-Point networks with reference to Fibre to the Home (FttH) installations.
Installation, acceptance test and fault find of Cat 5/6 copper cabling, multi/single mode fibre systems (internal/external), using a range of next generation OTDR’s, light source and power meters and high precision fusion splicers as well as many other types of measurement and test equipment.
Certified Operator and Trained in Health and Safety in the workplace with the NRASWA (Signing, Lighting and Guarding).
Terminate fibre with a wide range of connector types, including hand techniques. Proficient using different termination methods, manufacturing in field environments, achieving low reflectance and insertion loss.
Splice all types of fibre from standard G652 to specialty fibres (including AllWave) OM1, OM2, OM3 and OS1. Experienced in a range of fusion splicers such as Fujikura (FSM 60s & 50s) and Fitel (123 & 178) machines. Jointing cables using variety of mechanical splices.
Confirm performance and characterization of fibre systems using insertion loss measurement techniques with smart light source and power meters (Exfo 980 max-tester) internal LAN, external trunk and PON testing and PON power meters and OTDR’s.
Proficient in E-side, D -side connectivity and qualified in the Access Network Layer.
LAN Permanent link/channel testing with level 3 LAN Testers (Fluke DTX-1800, Fluke DSP-4000,).
Experience working on various communication systems, operating HF, VHF, SHF and satellite communication equipment.

:scratch:Splicing and termination, looks like you were good from the description in your post, how many years did you enjoy splicing?

I just wanted to know what kind of material the poster spliced together? sounds dangerous! you never know what kinds of trouble people get themselves into when taking orders from people, i was curious that's all, it must of been good eye expect:spin:

iv been in army for 10 years and are now on a course on completion will have them qualifications, thats why im after a job as im leaving the army

Have a look at established data cabling companies, might be a start.

You don't say where you are from, could recommend 2 local to me.

Bit far away from this area then. Just have a look online for data cabling companies in your local area and see what they say.
