Cancelling Virgin Media 2 months early. Cost?
I am seriously considering switching to BT Infinity so I can get the Sport Channels for free. What is the cost of terminating Virgin Media now when my contract ends in 2 months?

I would imagine they would charge the next two months at whatever rate you're paying now.

Fees detailed here:

Eeeeek! I didn't understand that it was only fiber optic to your street and not your door. The phone network to my house, or in my house, always used to drop off with BT as we have a dodgy line. Placed the order yesterday but cancelled today, lucky I found that out now.

Yeah its similar to Virgin's Fibre in that respect although BT's fibre is usually closer to your house due to how VM in many areas daisychain cabinets with copper coax.
As you still have a few months left on the VM contract, couldn't you get the BT fibre install anyway and if it didn't perform as expected just cancel within the first 28 days? Not sure how they work but im wondering if it is possible they would rewire from your house to resolve the problem and keep their new customer? Btw, FTTC = Fibre To The Cabinet. VM and BT services are both FTTC although BT do have FTTP (Premises) in some select areas. |

I thought Virgin Media was Fiber to the door? They can't be using my normal phone line as that's really dodgy....

And do they then use the same lines as BT?
---------- Post added at 13:43 ---------- Previous post was at 13:42 ---------- How come Virgin Media get near to the speeds advertised and BT fall short ? |

So the BT connections are making the most of old wiring already in place compared to VM's newly installed cables which are specific to the job. VM don't use anyone else's wiring. They put their own telephone line in and their own coax which serves the tv and broadband. Sure someone can explain it better and more neatly lol. |
