Outlook Calendar > GMail / Android Sync

OK - just wasted an hour trying to find something that simply syncs my Outlook Calendar to my GMail / Android device WITHOUT plugging it in and sync'ing/ Want to do it over OTA and free! :D

The official Google Sync app only allows syncing if the account is a business or education / paid up version.

Found some apps which are paid for.

Found this, but it gives and error when signing into my Google account - suspect it's either blocked for the reasons above or it's blocked due to 2-step security.

Anybody successfully doing this?

Re: Outlook Calendar > GMail / Android Sync

If you use a Hotmail/Windows Live/Outlook.com type account then you can use the Hotmail Connector for Outlook (2007 or 2010) to sync mail/calendar/contacts between Outlook and the server. They you can use either the standard mail app or the outlook.com app on Android to sync to the phone.

If you have Outlook 2013 then it will natively sync mail/calendar/contacts/tasks.

That's a great idea. It sort of works but I want to sync the native Outlook PST calendar - not copy the PST calendar to the Outlook.com Web calendar. I can't find a way to do this. I've tried publishing the calendar to the Office website but I can't find a way to read that on the Android phone.

can't you just use google calender and abandon Outlook completely?

No - use Outlook (PST) for everything - it's all in one place; gets backed up, connected to multiple POP accounts which all the data is downloaded into.

The next step is to pay for a hosted Exchange account but that's a lump of cash per year, which I don't particularity want to spend out on.

The difficulties I'm currently experiencing getting a Samsung phone to properly Activesync with email, calendar with Microsoft hosted exchange accounts suggests that a hosted account may not solve the problem. Indeed this seems to be a common issue with many Android based phones.

First time I've heard that, and we've setup many EAS devices for customers. Saying that however, we have a few issues with devices starting with "i" .

But how would I keep my Outlook PST setup? I don't want to ship it all to Google - I want it kept local.

I use Google calendar sync on two pcs to sync their calendars and to sync some android devices . Pc A is set as the master calendar and all other devices are synced to it. I think I just use the standard calendar app on the androids ( 2 samsungs and a Huawei tablet)

Yes I tried that, but it wouldn't work with my Google account - you need a paid up business account for it work - or you did as they deemed the product end of life now since Jan 2013.

There is an issue with what you're trying to do.

If you want OTA syncing, you're going to have to ship your data up to a server somewhere. If you want to keep your data in Outlook, then you're going to have to use a wire.

If you're a gmail user then you'd probably be best to just use gmail through your browser. You can get your POP accounts forwarded to one gmail.

My wife has a Galaxy Note, and getting it to sync properly with a Hotmail type account was a complete pain. Needed to use the outlook.com app to sync the calendar and mail, and the built in EAS sync app for contacts. And another app to colour the individual calendars as she wanted them.

Basic stuff that JustWorks(TM) with Windows Phone!

I have just given up on using the calendar sync tool had a few issues, more recently it wanted to delete events from my outlook so tonight I have found this and installed it and evaluating it at the moment, no faults so far.
