just had my v box replaced with a v hd box but engineer said it would cost me to have the hd,but i pay for the hd on my tivo so cant understand hope some one can explain

No, you don't pay a charge at all for HD, if you can't access the channels give VM a call

you have to call to get hd activated, if a tech does it it starts you on a new contract,

Agreed... I had no HD Sport and had to call to get it put on....

No. Just ring Customer Services and they should add it for free.

Incidentally, you don't pay for HD on your TiVo either, unless you have Sky Sports and/or Movies in HD. There is a charge for the TiVo itself, but not for the HD component.
