Openreach Checker

1 Attachment(s)
Hi,

Can some have a look at the attached pic and tell me what it means about fibre multicast?

I am moving to this area in august and the broadband speeds are rubbish! However seeing the multicast has given some hope!

Thanks :)

Judging on your post code there is no fibre yet, closest is at Brigg.

Virgin Media are in the area so would look at going with them.

Strange that Fibre Multicast would be offered but Fibre broadband wouldn't be. Possibly a mistake on the checker?

Simple answer is broadcasting tv

Definitely deserves more investigation. Its possible it is a trial of some sort but hopefully its a sign that openreach fibre is in the area.

Personally I would see the lack of VM a blessing. Means you won't get stuck in to a contract with Virgin, stopping you from getting a proper quality unlimited fibre if it became available ;)

My experience with Virgin broadband was the complete opposite. So worth keeping in mind that their service can be entirely different in another postcode so its not guaranteed you will have the same once moving to another area.

I would rather have adsl than VM fibre :p:

Didn't release fibre was available there. All I would say is good luck at getting ADSL there, lucky if you get 1Mb, had a unit across from Homebase who really struggled there.

Surely all it is saying is the headend (probably your nearest exchange) that the fibre cabinet will be connected to when fibre becomes available is multicast enabled.

But the cabinet itself is either not there yet or not live.

One would expect that a service displayed in an availability checker is...already available.
