Swine flu cases resistant to Tamiflu are becoming more common

http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2013...flu-scientists

This real worry for us as it evolved into more dangerious strain. Fact cases in australia not had tamiflu found there strain is resistant to tamiflu.

Quote:

Increasing numbers of cases of swine flu are being detected that are resistant to Tamiflu, the drug the UK and rest of the world stockpiled to fight a pandemic, according to scientists calling for greater global monitoring.
Even more worryingly, these strains of flu are appearing in patients who have never been treated with the drug, which means the strains are able to pass from one human to another.
Drug companies still refusing to reveal data on the only drug which has short term restance to this strain.

Tamiflu, generic name oseltamivir, is one of the few treatments available for pandemic swine flu, although it is thought to be of limited effectiveness. The reluctance of the manufacturer Roche to release all the trial data has made it difficult to ascertain how limited. Nonetheless the drug can save lives if used early in the course of the illness.
Should we force them to hand over data on ground health concerns.

Tamiflu was never intended as a cure for Swine Flu, it just took the edge off the symptoms and in most cases speeded up recovery by a day or so.

I am more worried about anti biotic resistance TB myself , The swine flu didn't really kill that many specially seeing as seasonal flu is still a killer also. I am guessing the flu jabs cover Swine flu now anyway so the weakest get it

The mix of flu's that the flu jab is meant to protect against is not always the right mix for the strains that appear. It's a guessing game that can go horribly wrong.

I too, am more afraid of a TB epidemic. How long before those in power decide to start vaccinations against TB again?

Agreed but considering the stockpiles what has Roche got hidden they dont want the governments to find out.

Have they made situation worse but was this more governments to blame seem remember they insisted on the use to treat swineflu outbreak.

tizmeinnit good point but is the flu jab also got problem to resistence. Although there is general issue collapse to antibotics resistance to all diseases.

We seem to losing battle wonder how long people going have problems from simple scratch.

Whats reason nannyness ?

Lack/poor hygene practises ?

Practises which breeds diseases within comunity. We have businesses or individuals who dont or wont stay away from work when they caught viruses. Are we too reliant say going to chemist get fast acting lemsip going to work. Result it still can spread and evolve within groups.
