Warrington recalls IRA bombing 20 years on

I was 300 meters away from this at the back of Woolworth's when it went off.

Quote:

The people of Warrington are remembering the IRA bomb attack which killed two schoolboys 20 years ago.

Tim Parry, 12, and Johnathan Ball, three, died when two bombs detonated in the town centre on 20 March 1993, leaving 54 people injured.
Quote:

One exploded outside Boots and McDonalds, showering fifty children in the restaurant with glass, and one outside the Argos catalogue store. The area was crowded with shoppers. Witnesses said that "the first explosion drove panicking shoppers into the path of the next blast just seconds later"
The animals that did this targeted kids by planting the bomb in a bin outside Mcdonalds on a Saturday.

May those who died that day RIP

Yup. My wife came very close to being blown up by the IRA twice when she worked in London. Every time I see the likes of Adams and McGuinness strutting about I think about all those innocent men men and children who were murdered and maimed in pursuit of their aims.

That must have been particularly galling. My sympathies to you.

It's cold comfort, but while they may not have gone to jail, they lost their war. Ulster remains British, there is no road map to make it Irish and the troubles have pretty much convinced the Republic it doesn't want the North anyway.

Thank you Sirius for posting, we in York are so lucky (fingers crossed) not to suffer such pain. We never forget OUR fallen. R.I.P.
