Email problems

my outlook express is an @ntlworld.com email address. I've been trying to send email and have received 'server rejected the sender's email address' I had a look on the virginmedia site and changed the port and outgoing pop address and now I seem to have made problems worse, I am now getting 'Your SMTP server has not responded in 60 seconds.......'. I'd be grateful for any help, thanks

You have almost certainly typed in the incorrect settings for your outgoing email server.

Make sure it's set to smtp.virginmedia.co.uk and make sure encryption is enabled and set to SSL. Then make sure the port is set to 465. Double and triple check these details, one typo will cause it to not work.

If you're still having issues, please take a screenshot of your settings and post them here.

….but obviously not including any password! ;)

In the meantime you might like to confirm that at least Webmail on same account functions correctly and will send (and receive) without a problem?

Also how many ntlworld email addresses are you using? I still have 15 and occasionally a mixture of IMAP and POP3 will both cough on incoming while attempting to also send via the smtp.ntlworld.com and virginmedia.com servers. :(
