Foreign doctors must be able to speak English

Quote:

Foreign doctors wanting to treat NHS patients in England will have to prove they have the necessary English skills, the government has confirmed...

... From April, there will be a national list of GPs to prevent doctors being rejected in one part of the country and then cropping up somewhere else. GPs will have to prove their language skills before being put on the list.
Sounds like common sense to me so you have wonder why it's taken so long to tackle this problem.

Dam right as well, We are talking about the possibility if the doctor cannot speak or understand English of a misdiagnosis. If a doctor did not speak or understand English well then i would not use be using that doctor

yep big risks. wonder if been more spreed issues already.

The other on side note is many atos doctors come from all over burma, croatia etc. If they speak little or dont understand lingo could this caused errors in those assements.

Any reason why latin was dropped on pescriptions. Used to be common years back docs would write them in latin.

qid used to be four as remember. Though latin diluted so much only now the obvious common words now.

Maybe that should be extended to the patients as well ?;)

I would have thought that speaking good English would have to a prerequisite of practicing medicine in an English speaking country myself

I do believe the problem in Urbani's case wasn't strictly one of language but rather the fact that diamorphine wasn't prescribed in Germany (just morphine) and he got the dose wrong because of it.
